Aarthi Udayakumar - Clinical Counsellor (North Sydney & Gordon)

Aarthi is registered as a Clinical Counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

She brings over 5 years of experience working directly with clients from all walks of life. Aarthi has experience working with individuals and families experiencing concerns relating to domestic and family violence, trauma, grief and loss, child welfare and wellbeing, relationship breakdown, as well as depression, anxiety and a variety of other mental health issues.

Aarthi speaks fluent English and Tamil and has had the opportunity to gain lengthy experience working with many clients who are culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD). Aarthi supports families and children in her capacity as a counsellor by adopting a ‘no judgementapproach. She has experience using trauma informed, strengthsbased and outcomes focussed practices.

Aarthi is dedicated to providing a service that is person-centred. She does this by approaching each session in a manner that is tailored and purposeful for the individual. Her therapeutic approach is evidence-based and includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as Creative and Play therapy.

Areas of Interests: Individual Therapy, Family and Couples Therapy, and Creative and play therapy with children. When working with children she uses creative visualization such as Bear Cards, Anxiety for kid cards, and strength cards amongst others. Role-playing, toys, dolls, action figures, arts and crafts water and sand play, blocks and construction toys, and musical play.
